Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is well-acquainted with the league’s recent rule changes over the offseason, and after the move he pulled on Monday, so are the Dallas Mavericks.

Apart from reducing the number of timeouts, one of the rule changes this season included the limiting of halftime to 15 minutes. Any team that isn’t on the court on time to start the second half will receive a delay-of-game technical foul.

Draymond Green noticed the Mavs were late getting the second half started, and made sure the officials knew about it. Dallas was duly-handed the delay-of-game technical for violating the rule, which led to a Stephen Curry free throw to make it 66-62.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle was not too thrilled with the call that cost his team a point.

That extra point the Warriors got for that technical foul didn’t end up mattering in the grand scheme of things as the Warriors blew the Mavs out in a 133-103 win.

However, it does serve as a warning to other teams that Draymond Green is a stickler for the rules, which means they better not be taking their sweet time getting out after halftime when they face the Warriors.
