Kansas basketball and North Carolina have both agreed to have a home-and-home series in 2024 and 2025. The Jayhawks and the Tar Heels each announced the big news, via their respective official websites.

The first part of the series will take place at the home of Kansas basketball, the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence on Nov. 18, 2024, per KUathletics.com. The following regular-season meeting between the two Blue Bloods will see Kansas basketball take on the Tar Heels at Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill on Nov. 14.2025.

This type of non-conference game between two heavyweight college basketball programs usually happens in March Madness, but the Jayhawks and the Tar Heels apparently are not going to leave their chances to meet each other in 2024 and 2025 in their bracket positioning in those years' NCAA Tournament brackets.

“These will be two great games from programs whose rich histories are intertwined so much,” said Jayhawks head coach Bill Self. “It will be a special day in both Chapel Hill and Lawrence when we play and I am looking forward to it.”

North Carolina is just as hyped up as Self and the Jayhawks about the series.

“These two games should be exciting for players and coaches on both teams and a win for fans of college basketball,” shared Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis. “It's an opportunity for two great programs to play in each other's home arenas, which are among the best and most historic in our game.”

Kansas and North Carolina have met each other a total of only 12 times in the past, with the all-time series knotted at 6-6. Kansas basketball has won the last four meetings with the Tar Heels, including in the 2022 national championship game in New Orleans, with the Jayhawks defeating North Carolina, 72-69.
