A major blow for Oklahoma.
Sooners sophomore guard De'Vion Harmon will be out for the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament in Indianapolis after testing positive for COVID-19, head coach Lon Kruger said on Wednesday.
“De'Vion has tested positive,” Kruger revealed in his video press conference with the media. “So we'll be without De'Vion. Players have this as a goal, so it's so sad for De'Vion. He's not gonna have that opportunity the first weekend. we challenged our guys to win a couple and so he can come back next weekend.”
It's a particularly tough break for the Oklahoma star, who openly spoke about how playing in the NCAA Tournament has been a lifelong dream.

But me and my dad would watch it every year in March, and now I got a chance … now I'm in it,” Harmon told the media on Sunday. “Now I'm here. I get to play in it. My parents are going to be there. They get to watch their son go compete for a national championship, and I'm just ready.”
Harmon's fondest March Madness memory before coming to Oklahoma? Watching Duke top Wisconsin in the 2015 National Championship game.
“My favorite one was probably Tyus Jones against Wisconsin in the national championship, when he went off,” Harmon said. “Ah, it was crazy. He hit that big shot top of the key. That was the magazine cover right there.”
Harmon would have participated in the festivities as a freshman, only for the tournament to be shut down over COVID-19. Hopefully, the Oklahoma Sooners can win two games without one of the best players and help Harmon achieve one of his dreams.
Harmon averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game for the Sooners in 2020-21. He helped Oklahoma earn an 8-seed in the Dance, where they'll face no.9-seeded Missouri on Saturday evening at Lucas Oil Stadium.
