Nick Saban is one of the greatest college football coaches of all-time. There's little debating that, especially after he has turned the Alabama Crimson Tide to some weird version of John Wooden's UCLA basketball program, but instead of scoring buckets, Nick Saban's players commit acts of violence for our entertainment.

Anyway, Alabama had been rolling opponents rather easily as of late. That was until Saturday rolled around, when a somewhat game Texas A&M Aggies squad (relatively) held its own against the Crimson Tide. Being the master motivator that he is — or something — Nick Saban used that as a chance to… backhand slap the media.

From al.com:

We just didn’t play as well tonight and you have to give them a lot of credit for it,” Saban began.

Then a pause.

“I’m trying to get our players to listen to me instead of listening to you guys,” Saban said. “All that stuff you write about how good we are. All that stuff they hear on ESPN. It’s like poison.

“It’s like taking poison.

“Like rat poison.

Rat poison? That seems pretty harsh.

Saban has been giving some weird sound bites as of late, but this might take the cake. One of the best coaches of all-time blaming the media for his players losing focus because he only “just” beat Texas A&M.

Now, here is the obvious followup question to Saban blaming the media for writing too positive about Alabama: “Would you prefer we randomly trash your kids in an effort to bring them back down to Earth?”

That would be the opposite of what Saban's gripe is about. Gosh. Slam. Rat poison.
