Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore knows that there is no love lost between his team and Michigan State. Fuel is possibly added to the rivalry's fire after the Wolverines took a player from the transfer portal that played for Michigan State football. Ironically, the Spartans then grabbed a player that previously played for the Wolverines.
Michigan football nabbed a commitment from former Spartans safety Jaden Mangham. Moore was pleased with the addition. The new Wolverines coach was also pleased that his former linebacker Semaj Bridgeman found a new home at Michigan State.
“We’re happy we got Jaden,” Moore said, per Sports Illustrated. “He's a really good player, he's an All-Big Ten player, so super stoked for him. And excited for Semaj — he got an opportunity he felt like he wanted, so good for him and all the blessings for him. But I think the rivalries are still alive and there's respect in all of them, but they’re still alive.”
Mangham posted 73 tackles and four interceptions at his previous stop, Michigan State. He was named All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2023. On the other hand, Michigan State now has a linebacker in Bridgeman who hasn't played a college football game yet. He was a highly touted four-star recruit for the Wolverines when he joined that squad in 2023.
It will certainly be exciting to follow each of these players during the course of the 2024 season. There will certainly be a lot of excitement on October 26, when these two rival schools take the field to play one another. The game is getting played this year in Ann Arbor.
