In an offseason where dynamic duos were formed all over the league, questions began to fly over who had the strongest pairing and how they matched up against other duos. Apparently, NBA 2K thinks that the Nets duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving is the third-best in the league, finishing behind the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving finished with an average rating of 93.5, which isn't too shabby. However, LeBron James and Anthony Davis took the trophy with a 95.5 average, two points higher than their East Coast competition.

However, what's more concerning to the Nets than a video game ranking is the health of Durant. The superstar suffered a torn Achilles in the NBA Finals, and it's likely that he will miss the entire 2019-20 season. Irving will bring all the star power to Brooklyn alone for the majority of their first season in Brooklyn.

Another question mark raised by Durant's injury is how he will look after his recovery. An Achilles injury is obviously one of the worst injuries an NBA player can face, and it can be career altering.

The most recent example is Durant's former teammate DeMarcus Cousins. After his Achilles tear, the big man looked a step slow for most of his Warriors tenure and was forced to settle for a veteran's minimum after being one of the most dominant players in the league for years.

Durant will look to avoid this fate and return to his role as the most unstoppable NBA scorer. If he does, the Nets will easily have one of the best duos in the league, perhaps even better than the third-place finish that 2k gave them.
