Ben Simmons wasn't even on the bench on Monday night as the Brooklyn Nets battled for their lives against a powerhouse Boston Celtics side. Brooklyn lost, 116-112, as their season officially came to an end following an embarrassing sweep at the hands of the Celtics.

In spite of rumors emerging about Simmons potentially making his debut for the Nets in Game 4, this just wasn't to be. Apparently, the former Rookie of the Year is still dealing with a back injury that prevented him from suiting up in what was potentially a season-saving contest for the Nets.

Unfortunately for Simmons, the internet never forgets. A two-year-old tweet of his recently resurfaced and it is yet another knock on an embattled Ben Simmons:

“Watching my team get swept hurt, and I don't ever want to feel that way again,” Simmons wrote in his tweet from August 2020.

At that time, Simmons was still with the Sixers and they were coming off a first-round series sweep against, ironically, the Celtics. Simmons hated the feeling of being eliminated without being able to put up much resistance. Well, that just happened again on Monday night, and Simmons wasn't even available to help his new team.

What makes this tweet even more hilarious (or depressing for Nets fans) is how a random comment suggested that Simmons should join the Nets in order to avoid being swept in the future. The comment turned prophetic in terms of Ben taking his talents to Brooklyn but it clearly did not age too well.
