Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is only eligible to play in road games right now, but there is a firm belief that could change as the season rolls on. Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the organization is feeling optimistic about having Kyrie available as a full-time player once again:

As we know, there is currently a vaccine mandate in New York City, which prevents the Nets guard from being able to play at the Barclays Center. The only other city he can't play in the NBA is Toronto because they have similar guidelines.

It's not expected that Irving is going to get vaccinated. No one is pushing him to do so, not even Kevin Durant or James Harden. However, as Woj noted, the franchise could potentially be open to paying a nightly fine in order for Kyrie to suit up at home. Nets owner Joe Tsai has remained adamant about all players getting vaccinated, but when the playoffs near and this team is looking to win a title, it would be a shame to not have Irving in the mix. It's an avenue that may be explored.

Obviously, this whole conversation would be put to bed if he got the jab. But unfortunately, that feels like an unrealistic possibility. In two games this season so far, Kyrie Irving is averaging 17.7 points, five rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He dropped 22 in his debut but had just nine points in the Nets' big win over the Bulls on Wednesday.
