The Brooklyn Nets are preparing to sign G League forward Justin Anderson to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The news comes shortly after the Nets announced they were waiving swingman David Nwaba after Nwaba suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in December.

Brooklyn applied for a Disabled Player Exception after Nwaba's injury, which was promptly granted on Dec. 24. However, the Nets only received $839,000, which essentially led to the decision to waive Nwaba in order to clear more cap space.

Anderson has put together some very impressive numbers with the 905 Raptors.

The 26-year-old was averaging 21.2 points and 6.8 rebounds through 13 games while also shooting close to 50 percent from the floor. He gives the Nets some added depth on the wings, though Brooklyn will hope he can improve his efficiency from beyond the arc.

Anderson previously played for the Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers. He spent the 2018-19 season with the Atlanta Hawks, averaging 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 48 games.

The former University of Virginia star looked like a breakout star during Dallas' first-round playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016, averaging 9.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 19 minutes per game while also attempting to play agitator to Russell Westbrook. However, Anderson struggled to follow up on his strong showing the next season, and he was acquired by the Sixers after being placed on waivers.

Anderson has mostly bounced between the G League and the NBA since then, but he is hoping that he can establish some more continuity with the Nets.
