Brooklyn Nets small forward Caris LeVert says All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving is “a great person to be around” and has been organizing team workouts in Los Angeles.

LeVert says he didn't pay attention to any of the rumors which claimed Irving is a bad teammate and leader. The Nets swingman wants to get to know Irving and is looking forward to building a relationship with Uncle Drew, both on and off the court.

“I've talked to him a lot the past couple of days,” LeVert said on ESPN's The Jump. “Honestly, he's a great teammate, a great person to be around, very competitive, very knowledgeable about the game. So, I can't wait to continue to build that relationship with him on and off the court.

“He has been organizing the workouts. We've been out here (in Los Angeles) kinda as a team, we got like seven or eight guys out here working out. It's been fun. It's been competitive.”

The Boston Celtics media pegged Kyrie Irving as a toxic player who rubbed players on the team the wrong way. As a result, some around the league didn't like the Nets' decision to sign Irving to a four-year deal this summer despite how talented of a player Kyrie is.

However, Irving is getting a fresh start with the Nets, the team he grew up rooting for. Caris LeVert is approaching this the right way. The talented scorer wants to get to know Irving by himself so he can make his own opinion instead of just going off rumors.
