The Brooklyn Nets haven't exactly had the ideal start to the season, as they fell to the Milwaukee Bucks on opening night, 127-104.

The Nets were also unable to finalize a contract extension with superstar James Harden that would have kept him in Brooklyn for the foreseeable future. But all signs point to a deal getting done, it's just a matter of time. James Harden himself said so as well.

James Harden when asked about not signing extension by deadline “I love it here, I feel at home. It’s nothing to worry about…For me individually, I just want to focus on this year.” He also said plainly “I don’t plan on leaving this organization.”

That doesn't sound like a man trying to play hardball. Contract negotiations with MVP-caliber players are much easier than anyone else given that you're going to be offering them the max amount of money possible, with a few stipulations or clauses here and there, and it's up to them to accept the deal or not.

The hard part is over for Brooklyn as James Harden clearly wants to stay. But the Nets star stands to make around $70 million more in guaranteed money if he holds off and signs next offseason.

While it's a gamble that he'll be able to stay healthy, all signs point to the Beard draining step-backs in Brooklyn for the foreseeable future.
