If Los Angeles Lakers forward Jared Dudley had his way, he'd still be playing for the Brooklyn Nets. During an interview that Dudley did with Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the veteran confessed that he wanted to play with Kevin Durant so bad he wanted to stay longer than usual:

“I did want to go back (to the Nets). I did early on. Because before I had the Lakers, they were stalling. Obviously they had to do KD and Kyrie, and that’s fine. But then there were two days where I didn’t really hear anything from them,” Dudley said. “And they did eventually offer. But by that time, I done already talked to Bron and didn’t hear anything. At that time, I also wanted to a two-year deal to go back because I wanted to play with Durant.”

Instead, the Nets decided to move on from Dudley, choosing not to resign the 34-year-old. In July of the same offseason, Dudley signed a one-year deal with the Lakers worth $2.6 million.

“So with all things equal, you see how this weather is out here. For me,it’s been perfect because when Kuz was out I played a little bit early. I know my role. I know I’m going to play 50 games a year. I started one time. For me, just get to the playoffs and give ourselves a chance is (what I care about).”

Dudley has enjoyed a 13-year NBA career mainly as a role player off the bench. The 6-foot-6 veteran is playing a minimal role for the Lakers this season. Dudley is playing a career-low 7.8 minutes per game for Los Angeles where he is scoring just 1.5 minutes per game.
