Brooklyn Nets center Jarrett Allen is excited to see how far the team will go over the next couple of years after they have acquired All-Stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. And he gave a lot of credit to former teammate D'Angelo Russell for helping the Nets be where they are now.

Last season, Russell led the Nets to the playoffs as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Although they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, a lot of people were optimistic about their future, especially since they have a talented young core.

But the Nets had bigger plans and that is to compete for a championship. The addition of Durant and Irving also meant that they had to let Russell walk away. The All-Star guard was then traded to the Golden State Warriors.

Russell has come a long way after his two underwhelming seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. The former second overall pick reinvented himself and became a better player with the Nets. His maturity over the past couple of years helped him become a better leader, and he's expected to grow even more now that he's playing with three-time champions Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

As for the Nets, they are not expected to compete for a championship this season as Durant is still recovering from his Achilles injury. But once he returns, things will change for Brooklyn as they will have a great opportunity to win it all.
