The Brooklyn Nets came up with a hard-fought victory on Tuesday after taking down a relentless Detroit Pistons side, 130-123. It was a high-scoring ballgame between two teams with quite the firepower but in the end, it was Kevin Durant who stood tall.

KD dropped a game-high 41 points in another offensive explosion from the Nets superstar. This was an important win for Brooklyn, who was coming off a 119-110 loss against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. Tuesday's victory allowed the Nets to get some separation against Charlotte, who is currently just one game behind them in the loss column. These two teams could be facing off in the Play-In tournament as the final two playoff spots are decided.

After his show-stopping performance against the Pistons, Durant revealed what he believes the Nets desperately need right now with the Play-In tournament just around the corner. According to KD, it's now all about getting the Nets back to full strength:

“To be honest we just want to be healthy,” Durant said, via the YES Network. “I think we all understand what playoof basketball is about and we'll be able to lock in on the team, you know, once we get two or three days of practice. But most part we just want to stay healthy.”

The first name that comes to mind here is Ben Simmons, particularly with Kyrie Irving already being recently upgraded to a full-time participant after certain changes were implemented on New York City's vaccine mandates. Simmons, unfortunately, still has no timetable to return. The former Rookie of the Year has yet to make his Nets debut since his blockbuster trade from the Sixers and at this point, there is some significant concern about his health.

Time is running out for the Nets and ideally, they would want Simmons to get a few reps in before the postseason begins. Brooklyn has six more games remaining on their regular-season schedule and sadly, it remains unclear if Simmons will be able to return in time.

The last update on Simmons was that he was no longer feeling pain in his legs after receiving an epidural. He is still dealing with a herniated disc and while there are no concrete updates with regard to his target return date, there at least has been some progress on his road to recovery.

Once he actually comes back, however, it goes without saying that the Nets are going to be a whole new monster with the three-time All-Star point guard in the mix.

KD himself has had a rough year in terms of staying healthy. He missed 21 games between January and March due to a knee injury and the Nets really struggled with their superstar watching from the sidelines. Durant is much better now and he's been dominating the league since returning.

When asked about how his knee was feeling, Durant seemed to imply that there's absolutely nothing to worry about right now.

“Yeah, yeah, I'm good,” KD said with a smile.

The Nets will definitely need Durant at full strength for the stretch ahead. It's great to hear that his knee is feeling good and that this shouldn't be an issue moving forward. Kyrie appears to be 100 percent healthy as well. Now if they could just get Ben back.
