Like a shooting star that only crossed the sky for a brief moment, the Brooklyn Nets supernova trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden has officially come and gone.

But unlike those celestial bodies we merely observe from a distance, the destruction of this one was under the supervision of the Nets' biggest star in Kevin Durant.

According to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer, it was Durant's outlook towards the James Harden situation that ultimately gave the go signal for Brooklyn to make its big move.

Via Bleacher Report:

“KD didn't want to get rid of James,” one person familiar with the two superstars said. “But he knew it was over.”

“Kevin was like: ‘F–k it. James isn't bringing s–t,” another figure with knowledge of Brooklyn added. “I don't think that would have happened without Kevin making that decision.”

Kevin Durant had reportedly grown “weary” of James Harden's wavering commitment to to the Nets and allegedly even doubted the severity of the Beard's recent hamstring injury.

KD saw the writing on the wall. While the Nets forward wasn't the biggest fan of making the move for Ben Simmons, he was said to be the one who “pulled the trigger” in the end.

It's no secret LeBron James has pulled some major strings in his various stints with different franchises. While Kevin Durant is a much more lowkey figure than his Los Angeles Lakers counterpart, it does make sense that his stature in the league and within his franchise affords him that level of discretion on his team's decisions.
