There is only one game left in the entire season. You made it. Congrats. The Brooklyn Nets are now 43-38. They control their own destiny to host the first Play-In game. If they can beat Tyrese Haliburton and the 25-55 Indiana Pacers they'll lock up the seven, heading into the Play-In which begins on April 12.

We don't know yet for sure if their opponent would be Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks, Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers or LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets, as Fivethirtyeight has all three finishing with 43 wins. The odds are good that they'll be trying to slow down one of those electric star point-guards however.

But despite Darius Garland's 31 point eruption, causing some brief panic among the Brooklyn Brigade, Kevin Durant and company got it done. And one player, who has really come on down the stretch, just like he did last season, has been Bruce Brown.

Remember seven years ago at the beginning of this season (OK but it feels like it) when Brown was literally out of the rotation entirely? Kyrie Irving was out indefinitely and Brown still couldn't crack Steve Nash's rotation. Dang, tough crowd.

Nobody believes in Brown more than this Nets coaching staff, and yet even they keep sleeping on him heading into the season every year. But Brown worked his way into the lineup and has gotten better and better. Fast forward to Friday's must-win game and he was truly dynamic in this one.

He totaled 18 points, 10 boards, 8 dimes, four blocks (!) a steal, he drained 2 triples, and all four of his free throws.

Let's give Brown one of these, patented KD round of applause, shall we?

After the game, Brown answered questions with reporters at Barclays Center. He joked that when he was seen talking trash with the opposing head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, that it was all in good fun.

“I was talking to J.B. [Bickerstaff] the whole time. I like talking to him,” the Nets swingman said. “He gets in his feelings sometimes but it's all good. I had a workout with him in Memphis during pre-draft [2018]. He liked me a lot, we had a few conversations.”

Brown said that he has confidence in his jump shot and wished he'd hit three triples. We swear, there was even a moment when Cavaliers big Lauri Markkanen ran Brown off his spot and it freed up Durant for a triple. Imagine? Earlier in the season teams were straight up ignoring this dude when he'd spot up.

But before he left he had a parting shot for us reporters. “There ain't no questions on an almost triple-double? Dang!”

Ouch. Sorry Bruce, you're right. Great job on almost getting one. And holy mackerel, four blocks on top? You were everywhere, absolutely filling up the stat sheet in a must-win game when your team controls their own destiny to improve your Play-In odds. You stepped it up in a clutch moment. How do you feel?

But Kevin Durant was quick to tease his Nets teammate and friend. KD was told that Brown wanted to know why reporters didn't talk to him about his big stat-line. And you know KD is tough to please.

“I didn't think [Bruce Brown] deserved a triple-double tonight,” the two-time NBA Finals MVP said. “Cause he talked about it. We didn't know and he's like ‘yo I need two more assists!' I'm like ‘ you not gettin' it tonight. You shouldn't have said nothing.”

Kyrie Irving was cracking up the whole time but Durant pretty much kept a straight face as always. Remember when Dave Letterman asked him why people call him “KD” and he kept a straight face explaining the K stands for Kevin and the D for Durant?

If he wasn't so recognizable, maybe Sacha Baron Cohen could find a way to do a prank show featuring KD and his ability to hold a straight face. Instead of Borat maybe Durat? Spitballing here.

But then Durant got serious and expressed how much he appreciates Brown's development and contributions.

“But we all love how Bruce has been playing lately,” Durant said. “Four blocks, I mean we expect, at this point I expect him to come out here and play well now. And I think once you build those expectations up for yourself as a player then that's when you start to develop even more and more. And you build that trust in your teammates. I'm sure he'll have more opportunities to do that,” Durant praised.

Brown is etched in now as a playoff rotation piece. There was a time the beginning of the year we wondered if that would be the case. Even without Kyrie Irving in the lineup he was riding pine. Now he's perhaps a key to their postseason run. Funny how that's happened two year in a row now. Dare we say… Mr. April? Or Mr. May?
