Kevin Durant is living on a different timeline right now, literally, but that was not going to stop him from expressing how thrilled he is over the fact that he would fly back to the United States soon and still find Blake Griffin remains as his teammate with the Brooklyn Nets.

Here’s the former NBA MVP talking about the Nets’ re-signing of Griffin just hours after Team USA took care of business in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics men’s basketball quarterfinals game against Spain.

So yeah. Kevin Durant apparently told Griffin soon after the Nets got eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs that he wants him back for another run.

Griffin was bought out by the Detroit Pistons in March 2021, opening a door for him to latch on a serious title contender. He chose to sign with the Nets for the rest of the 2020-21 NBA season with whom he averaged 10.0 points on 21.5 minutes per game the rest of the way. He would have some good moments in the playoffs, but he was clearly way below in the pecking order with Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving in front of him.

There should be an expansion for Griffin’s role this time around, though, especially with Jeff Green gone from the Nets.
