Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is back with the team after he was exiled for his vaccination status. With New York not allowing unvaccinated players to practice and play at home, the team decided to sit out Irving instead of making him a part-time player.

However, due to their recent bout with COVID-19, the Nets had a change of heart and finally allowed Kyrie to practice and play in road games.

On Wednesday, Irving  finally made his return and practiced for the first time since training camp. The 29-year-old star guard, however, admitted he wasn't able to sleep the night before in fear that he isn't physically ready after months on the sidelines.

“Last night I could barely sleep. I'm like, man, I just don't want to come out and not be who I know I am as a player…(My) heart racing and just not being nervous and touching the basketball again, and just the rhythm of the game. I missed it,” Irving said of his concerns with regards to his conditioning, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post.

It's hard to blame Kyrie Irving for feeling like this. After all, while it's certain he has stayed in shape, playing NBA basketball–against professionals–is an entirely different monster. With that said, it is easy to expect him to be rusty when he returns to play.

The Nets are not rushing Irving's return, though it is worth noting that head coach Steve Nash is pretty confident about his guard's conditioning, noting that he is happy with the way he looks after being out for months.

Brooklyn fans will have to wait for a little bit more to see Irving back in action, and hopefully when they do, the one-time champ will be able to put on a good show.
