Brooklyn Nets veteran big man LaMarcus Aldridge abruptly retired last season due to a health scare involving his heart, but he was medically cleared to return to the NBA in the offseason and decided to rejoin the Nets. Aldridge is feeling good now and thinks he has a good amount left in the tank.

The New York Times' Sopan Deb recently interviewed Aldridge, bringing up comments the Nets big man has made about finishing his career with Damian Lillard on the Portland Trail Blazers. Deb infers that this means LMA has plans to play next season and perhaps beyond.

The Nets veteran had this to say in response:

“I’m going year to year, but I definitely, how I feel now, how I’m moving now, I definitely have some more years in me. I feel rejuvenated, refreshed and just ready to go.”

Aldridge is playing well for the Nets so far this season, shooting a scorching-hot 62.9% from the field en route to 11.6 points per game in just 19.6 minutes per game of action. He's also grabbing five boards per game.

While that shooting will surely cool off a bit, it's clear that Aldridge is indeed feeling “rejuvenated” and “refreshed” even at 36 years old.

Whether Aldridge will actually wind up back in Portland in the future remains to be seen. He's focused on helping Brooklyn win a title right now, but he sure seems open to the idea of returning to the Blazers for a last hurrah. He and Lillard have patched up any differences and could be willing to work together again in Rip City, though Lillard's own future has obviously come into question over the past year.
