ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is accusing the Brooklyn Nets of “white privilege” after hiring Hall of Famer Steve Nash as their new head coach.

Smith, who said he loves Nash, says something is fishy about this whole situation, via Aaron Colen of The Blaze.

“This is one of the toughest, toughest positions that I've ever had to take in my career on ‘First Take,' and here is why,” Smith said, before going on to list some of the reasons he believes Nash is a great person who is extremely knowledgeable about basketball — but has no formal coaching experience.

“Ladies and gentlemen, there's no way around this. This is white privilege. This does not happen for a black man. No experience whatsoever on any level as a coach, and you get the Brooklyn Nets job?”

Steve Nash is one of the best point guards in NBA history.

However, as Stephen A. Smith says, Nash doesn't have any experience whatsoever on any level as a coach and he still got one of the best jobs in the NBA. The Nets are likely going to be title contenders next season with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving leading the way.

The Nets hired Nash since he has a close relationship with Durant. Nash used to help train KD when the two-time Finals MVP was on the Golden State Warriors from 2016 to 2019.

The eye of the storm is going to be on Nash in 2020-21. It's going to be very interesting to see how the two-time MVP does as a head coach.
