NFL announces Week 16 Saturday tripleheader featuring Buccaneers-Lions, 49ers-Cardinals, Dolphins-Raiders
An exciting tripleheader will be made available for football fans everywhere in time for the Christmas festivities. The NFL has already revealed its Week 16 slate scheduled to be played on Saturday, Dec. 26, via the league website.
The first offering will pit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Detroit Lions set to be played at 1 p.m. ET. The Bucs are looking to secure their seat in the playoffs as they currently hold the second spot in the NFC South with a 7-5 record while the Lions are looking to finish the season with a respectable showing after a house cleaning that sacked former head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn.
An NFC West division rivalry will commence at 1 p.m. ET. as the San Francisco 49ers go head-to-head with the Arizona Cardinals in the desert. The Niners are currently settling in the bottom spot of the division with a 5-6 record while the Cardinals remain in the thick of the postseason race with a 6-5 record.
The third and final game to be played on the game date will feature the Miami Dolphins against the Las Vegas Raiders at 8:15 p.m with both teams looking to jockey for position and seal their seat in the 2020 NFL Playoffs. The Fins are still rolling with a 7-4 record while the Raiders are not out of the conversation with a 6-5 win-loss tally.
Virtually anything can still happen from Week 12 going to Week 16 of the 2020 NFL season. The positioning can still change which makes all Christmas week games extremely pivotal especially for the teams that are still in the hunt for a playoff spot heading into the final week of the regular season.
