Former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback and 2019 NFL Draft prospect Dwayne Haskins is now officially a member of an NFL team. On Thursday evening, Haskins was selected at No. 15 overall by the Washington Redskins, giving the heralded Buckeyes another early-round pick in the NFL Draft.
While Haskins was talked about quite often this spring, the up-and-coming signal caller did have his NFL Draft stock waver at times before ultimately coming off the board to the Redskins in the first round.
Article Continues Below“Big and talented with explosive arm talent but limited mobility Haskins is a chance-taker with the arm strength to get away with some tight window throws that most in this class can't make,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com.
“Haskins is still very early in his journey and is prone to misreading coverage and stalling in getting through his progressions. While this is normal for an inexperienced quarterback, Haskins is going to be forced to learn on the fly against NFL speed and defensive coordinators conspiring to defeat him. His athletic limitations could keep him pocket-bound, but he has the arm talent, confidence and pocket savvy to become a good NFL starter if he's protected and given the time to develop early on.”
With Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones and Drew Lock rivaling Dwayne Haskins in terms of the top quarterback in this year's crop of talent, the Redskins newcomer will now have the chance to make a name for himself at the highest level. We will see how much Haskins will be tied to the aforementioned trio as their respective NFL careers progress.
