Former NFL cornerback Brandon Browner has been charged with the attempted murder after the incident which saw him break into his ex-girlfriend's home on Sunday, per Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com.

Aside from attempted murder, the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office has also charged the 33-year-old with three other felonies — robbery, burglary, false imprisonment — along with two counts of child endangerment.

Browner allegedly broke into the apartment, chased and forced the woman back into the house, and then physically harmed her while in the residence. He also allegedly stole a Rolex watch valued at around $20,000 which was in the house. Police located Browner within hours of the incident and took him into custody.

This latest incident is a continuation of Browner’s troubling and escalating run-ins with the law. He had just been arrested in May for domestic violence and child endangerment. Over the last year, Browner has now been arrested at least four times. He was also arrested on drug charges in October, and for making criminal threats in September.

After spending four seasons in the Canadian Football League, Browner played five years in the NFL, most notably the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. He won one Super Bowl ring each with those teams in 2013 and 2015. He’s most known for being an original member of the Seahawks’ famed “Legion of Boom” secondary and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2011.

Browner last played in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints in 2015. He had an unsuccessful comeback attempt with the Seahawks in 2016, and announced his retirement in 2017.
