Earlier this offseason, the Denver Broncos made the decision to part ways with veteran running back C.J. Anderson after five seasons with the team. It has put him on the open market for the first time in his career looking to play for another franchise.

Anderson is among the most established players at his position left in free agency that could be a high-impact asset in the running game wherever he lands. According to Mike Klis of 9News, there have been several teams that have already reached out to the 27-year-old.

Anderson is coming off his productive campaign recording 1,007 rushing yards while playing in all 16 regular season games for the first time in his career. This also marked the first 1,000 rushing yard season of his career that saw him post a pair of 100-yard performances that was topped by 158 yards against the Indianapolis Colts.

He may have to wait until after the 2018 NFL Draft this week before moving in on a potential landing spot as the primary focus around the league is turned toward going through the draft process. This will also give him a better feel for where he could have the best opportunity make an impact.

The same could be said for many of the other big names left on the open market such as Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles, DeMarco Murray, and Eddie Lacy. Each of these running backs has a proven track record that should allow for them to get a chance to start wherever they choose to play next season.

Anderson may hold the advantage over each of these players being younger while showing the ability to an effective option in the running game when given the opportunity. It may just be a matter of time before he finds his next landing spot this offseason likely before the start of training camp.
