Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick had his workout for NFL teams on Saturday. The former San Francisco 49ers' quarterback says he's been “ready for three years” for the NFL though.

Kaepernick's case is known by everyone at this point. In fact, if you don't know what's going on, that's got to be some kind of record. Every person you ask will likely have a different point of view. So we aren't here to give you any opinions. However, we are here to report on the facts.

Kaepernick says he was ready for three years. That's because the last time he played was in 2016, with the 49ers. In that year, he had 16 touchdown passes, compared to four interceptions in 12 games. While he had just a 59.2%, he added a fantastic 468 yards and two touchdowns on just 69 carries. This extra threat makes Kaepernick a very unique option.

He hasn't played since that season, though. Many feel that it's because of his protests. Obviously, Kaepernick became a massive news story when he started kneeling during the National Anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustices.

On Saturday, Kaepernick had a workout and apparently impressed. So it looks like there's a legitimate chance that he's back in the NFL sooner, rather than later.

What team signs him is still a mystery, if there will even be one that does. Whoever it is, the quarterback will definitely bring a ton of headlines. However, he could also bring a great veteran quarterback that could end up being a very valuable asset to the team.

Time will tell how this story ends. For now, we're just at a new chapter. A chapter that some didn't think we'd ever reach. It appears Colin Kaepernick was ready though.
