Everson Griffen once faced some obstacles in his life in 2018, during his career with the Minnesota Vikings. While he remains a free agent, the veteran revealed that he was living in a ‘sober house' in the latter part of the 2018 season.

Back in 2018, Griffen had multiple run-ins with the police. That led the Vikings to have the defensive end take a mental health evaluation to ensure his safety. Even though Griffen wasn't diagnosed with any mental concerns, he chose to seek a healthier lifestyle.

In September of the 2018 season, Griffen entered a treatment facility to help him cope with his off-the-field issues. Amid his time at the facility, Griffen was able to seclude himself and focus on bettering his well-being. His activities at the facility included conditioning and using a pass-rush dummy that he brought with him.

Then, in October, Griffen rejoined the Vikings after spending some time at the treatment facility. Despite returning to his normal life on the field, the veteran defensive end decided to change how he was living off of it.

Therefore, in hopes to improve as a person, Griffen began living in a ‘sober house' and abstained from using any drugs. As a result of his efforts to address his faults, the 32-year-old appeared to be reinvigorated during the 2019 season.

Just a year after spending time at a treatment facility, Griffen notched eight sacks and 24 quarterback hits. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, teams that may be interested in him in free agency are unable to conduct any tests to see where his mindset is. Seeing how Griffen is open about his past mistakes, there's no doubt he'll land on his feet somewhere in 2020.
