In a very scary story which thankfully had a happy ending, NFL legend Joe Montana and his wife, Jennifer, stopped a home intruder Saturday evening after that intruder had briefly taken hold of one of the Montanas' grandchildren.

Joe Montana was able to take back his grandchild, who was not harmed in the incident. The intruder then left the home, bringing an end to the frightening episode in a year filled with runaway stress and trauma around the nation and the world.

There is one unresolved or murky detail connected to this story. According to local law enforcement sources, the 39-year-old woman who invaded the Montanas' home took the couple's grandchild from the arms of a woman other than Jennifer Montana. The identity of that woman has not been ascertained at press time.

The detail of the story worth emphasizing is that the intruder got into the house through an unlocked door. In these very unsettling times, making sure to tend to basic details of home safety can be a simple but effective deterrent. Joe Montana will be sure to note that detail in the coming weeks. The NFL community and Americans everywhere are grateful his grandchild is safe and unharmed.
