The NFL's two Bay Area teams have garnered plenty of hype going into the 2019 NFL season. Regardless, it appears Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS analyst Tony Romo is still skeptical about the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders moving forward.

Each team has high hopes for a potential resurgence moving forward. According to Cam Inman of The Mercury News Romo seemed a bit hesitatant to dub them as potential playoff contenders.

“Both of those teams, they could be really good, or, the league is very tough, from week to week, game to game,” Romo said at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, where he’ll defend his championship this weekend.

There is certainly plenty of truth to Romo's comments. There is no question that both teams have done what they can to shore up some serious star power on their roster in recent years, however, there are still plenty of questions regarding whether or not this mixture will get them out of their funk.

The Raiders have undoubtedly made the most substantial changes as of late with the arrival of head coach Jon Gruden. After parting ways with nearly all of their Pro Bowl-caliber talent, they have finally managed to cash in on their draft picks while bringing in some Pro Bowlers of their own.

Meanwhile, the 49ers plans have been stalled a bit after quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL early in the 2018 campaign. They made quite the investment to make Garoppolo their franchise quarterback and they are hoping he can finally justify their decision this season.
