Earlier this offseason, the NFC West became even stronger when the Arizona Cardinals traded for DeAndre Hopkins.
While the Hopkins trade caused pandemonium, there could be more trades that take place in the NFC West this offseason.
The Los Angeles Rams have shown they aren't afraid to wheel and deal, giving up draft picks for marquee players. However, with their current cap situation, the Rams could look to unload some more of their players via trade.
During the 2020 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers dealt Marquise Goodwin and Matt Breida to other teams. After moving on from Goodwin and Breida, the 49ers still have a few players that could be on the trade block.
As for the Seattle Seahawks, they didn't do much to improve their roster over the offseason, which leaves Russell Wilson to put the team on his back again. Nevertheless, Seattle could consider moving some of the players on their roster for future draft picks. All that being said, here is one player on each NFC West team that could be traded before the 2020 NFL season.
Arizona Cardinals — Haason Reddick
For the second straight year, the Cardinals possessed a top-ten pick in the NFL Draft. After striking gold with Kyler Murray in the 2019 NFL Draft, Arizona chose Isaiah Simmons with the No. 8 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
While Simmons can multiple positions, the Cardinals intend to play him at linebacker in the upcoming season. But before Simmons was given that role, that is what Arizona was hoping to get when they selected Haason Reddick with the No. 13 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In his first three seasons, Reddick has combined for 192 tackles and three forced fumbles. Due to his inability to live up to expectations, the Cardinals declined to exercise Reddick's fifth-year option in 2021. As a result, maybe a team believes a change of scenery can help Reddick reach his ceiling this offseason.
Los Angeles Rams — Gerald Everett
The Rams have undergone a slew of changes on the offensive side of the ball. Besides Todd Gurley being released, Los Angeles also traded Brandin Cooks to the Houston Texans in exchange for a second-round pick.
In addition, the Rams added rookies Cam Akers, Van Jefferson, and Bryce Hopkins in the 2020 NFL Draft. The selection of Hopkins makes it seem like Los Angeles is planning on letting Gerald Everett walk after the 2020 NFL season.
Not to mention, Tyler Higbee emerged as the No. 1 tight end for the Rams after signing an extension last year. Though, there are a few teams that could express interest in acquiring the former second-round pick — who's flashed upside in his three years in Los Angeles.
San Francisco 49ers — Dante Pettis
Again, during the 2020 NFL Draft, the 49ers chose to move on from Goodwin, trading him to the NFC East's Philadelphia Eagles while swapping sixth-round picks. Just this past season, San Francisco saw some success with rookie Deebo Samuel and veteran Emmanuel Sanders leading the aerial attack alongside George Kittle.
While Sanders departed in free agency, it remains to be seen if Dante Pettis has a future in San Francisco. Pettis, who was the No. 44 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, fell out Kyle Shanahan's rotation last season.
Following a rookie season where he averaged 17.3 yards per reception and five touchdowns, Pettis managed to record only 11 receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns in 2019. No offense to Goodwin, but if he was able to net the 49ers a higher sixth-round pick, Pettis should be able to get something in return as the Niners try to retain their NFC title belt.
Seattle Seahawks — Will Dissly
Even before free agency began, the Seahawks — trying to improve in the NFC — signed veteran Greg Olsen. Despite Olsen nearing the end of his career, he gives Wilson a reliable target at the tight end position.
Besides Olsen, Seattle has suddenly become crowded at the tight end position this offseason. Altogether, behind NFC veteran Olsen, the Seahawks boast a tight end room that features Will Dissly, Luke Willson, Jacob Hollister, along with rookies Colby Parkinson and Stephen Sullivan.
Of those names listed, Dissly may surprisingly have the most trade value despite his injury concerns as an NFC West player. As a fourth-round pick in 2018, Dissly has been unable to stay on the field, missing 22 games due to injuries. Although that may be true, he's shown enough that could entice a team to offer a late-round pick.
