Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who hasn't exactly had the best first season ever, did receive some praise via the Detroit Lions following the game between the two. Granted, there was a nice little moment of shade hurled in the middle of it.

Lions cornerback Darius Slay, who had himself a game on Saturday, was the one who praised Mitchell Trubisky. However, if you look close enough, you can see the moment when the caveat game in. Worth noting, of course, this shade/caveat is mostly lighthearted.

“He’s learning,” Slay said of Mitchell Trubisky after the 20-10 win by the Lions over Chicago, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “He’s a great one. He’s going to get better. And I can see it in him. He’s got the drive to keep working, and he believes in himself and the team do, so if the team’s behind his back, he’ll be alright. But he needs to learn his lesson, though. Ain’t too many times he’s going to throw over to 23.”

Come on, guys. Those last two sentences are gold. Not to mention Slay wasn't lying, as he had two interceptions.

Here comes a little more heavy handed shade:

“Last week, I think they ran the ball pretty good on Cincinnati,” Slay said. “They can’t run the ball on us, so he had to throw the ball. Our goal was to make him beat us and we knew he couldn’t do that.”

Welp. There it is folks. The Lions know Mitchell Trubisky can't beat them.

As you can likely tell, the Lions beat the Bears on Saturday.
