Sean McDermott's Buffalo Bills defeated Bill Belichick's New England Patriots 33-21 in Foxborough on Sunday. Things got heated between the two sides on multiple occasions and Stefon Diggs even left some not-so-friendly comments for Patriots fans after a touchdown. While the players on the field don't seem overly fond of one another, that dislike doesn't extend to the head coaches. Quite the opposite, in fact, as McDermott had nothing but praise for Belichick after Sunday's matchup, via Ian Rapoport.
"Bill Belichick makes me a better coach. He’s the standard. And so he just … he challenges even the opposite coach to continue to grow." https://t.co/xyx9rukG6Q

McDermott insisted that Belichick is the “standard” of coaching, and inspires him to become better and continue to grow as a coach. These comments certainly take on a different tone than his remarks in the aftermath of the Bills' loss to the Patriots just a few weeks earlier, during which Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones attempted just three pass attempts. McDermott was far less eager to praise Belichick after that showdown, seemingly salty after the Bills took a loss in what was a rather bizarre game.
Clearly, he was in better spirits after the Bills' victory, and didn't hold back when showering Belichick with praise. The two sides are now tied atop the AFC East at 9-6, with just two games left on the docket. The Patriots are due to face the Jacksonville Jaguars at home in Week 17 and travel to Miami for their season finale against the Dolphins in Week 18. The Bills, on the other hand, have back-to-back home games against the Falcons and Jets, two games very winnable for McDermott and Co.
