Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton put on a show against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, starting up his sweet homecoming tour after a stint with the New England Patriots. Handing the Cardinals just their second loss of the season, the 32-year-old Newton was a major force in the 34-10 win as he produced two touchdowns on his first two snaps.

The veteran quarterback even had a few choice words after Sunday's game, where he tackled head-on the doubts about his unfamiliarity with the Panthers' playbook, as per Darin Gantt of Panthers.com:

Two touchdowns were all Newton needed to get back into the Carolina groove of football, after spending the 2020 NFL season over in New England. While Newton did not start the game, he showed little to no rust in his return to the Panthers, as he played his part in averting a Panthers meltdown 10 games into the season, as again explained by Gantt:

For the moment, Newton was exactly what an ailing offense needed. The Panthers had scored just one touchdown in the previous three games. But more than points, the Panthers had a spark on Sunday, and that's what they needed most of all as they try to hang into the NFC playoff chase.

Whether or not Carolina makes the playoff cut, Cam Newton's return can hopefully mean good things moving forward for the Panthers. Only time will tell just how many touchdowns Newton can contribute once he actually gets more familiar with Carolina's playbook.
