Quarterback Baker Mayfield is the future of the Cleveland Browns, however, this year it's been made clear by Hue Jackson that he is the backup. Jackson said on Wednesday Mayfield won't be getting a ton of first-team reps because Tyrod Taylor is going to be the starting quarterback this season.
Mayfield has accepted the idea of being a backup quarterback and will do anything to help the team, but he admits it's not something he will get used to.

Mayfield is going to go out there every day and do anything the coaching staff asks so that he can help make the team better and have more success.
“I go out here to say that I’m trying to make this team better, and whatever role that is, I’m going to try to do that,” Mayfield said, “… They’re doing everything they think is right, and I believe in that. I believe in them. So when it comes down to the stuff that they’re saying, that’s not going to change my work ethic, and if it does, then something’s wrong.”
It's interesting that they are already announcing Taylor as the starter before training camp even gets underway. It's clear that they want to take it slow with Mayfield and not rush him into anything. Mayfield is still the future of the Browns but he is still going to have to wait a bit to be handed the keys.
