On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers agreed to a trade, sending QB Baker Mayfield to the NFC South in exchange for a conditional fifth-round draft pick. It had been rumored for quite some time that the Browns were likely to trade Mayfield. That became a necessity once Mayfield himself announced that he would never play for the franchise again.
Despite early reports that the Seattle Seahawks were the leading candidates to deal for Mayfield, it was the Panthers who ultimately made the move. The trade left Browns feeling all sorts of ways, which they expressed through social media.
Baker's debut on TNF when he took down the Jets and the beer fridges opened was genuinely one of the most fun moments I've had as a Browns fan. the playoff win was thrilling.
but both his severe regression and personality ground me down to a pulp by the end

Jordan Zirm was clearly excited early on. But even he admits to being worn down by the regression and the drama surrounding for former Browns quarterback. He isn't alone either.
I thought being a Tennessee football fan was stressful and then I moved to Cleveland 7 years ago and became a Browns fan.

I sure am going to miss Bake Show’s wife telling me how to be a fan #Browns

But it has been very highly publicized just how much support Baker Mayfield has had from Browns fans during his time there. They did not hold back showing their appreciation and love for Mayfield.
Thanks @bakermayfield. You are front and center in my best memories as a Browns fan. Your first game against the Jets and that playoff game against the Steelers will never be forgotten. We’ll be cheering for you from afar.

Baker Mayfield was the most influential Browns player of the last 2 decades. I wish him nothing but the best.
If you're a Browns fan who holds animosity toward Baker, you're no better than Cavs fans who hate LeBron.
Grow up. https://t.co/p3IoMv7DIt

No, Baker Mayfield didn’t get the #Browns a Super Bowl.
But he did open the coolers. And he wasn’t afraid to chug along with Cleveland.

Regardless of how we left things, Baker Mayfield will not be forgotten among #Browns fans.
This was one of the greatest feelings on planet earth and I think Baker Mayfield for allowing me to experience it. pic.twitter.com/CiDp3048nX

But however some fans felt, one thing is certain. The wild ride has finally come to an end. The range of emotions Browns fans have probably experienced the last couple of years can only leave one sentiment.
Watson pleads the fifth. Baker gets traded for a fifth. Every #Browns fan is drinking a fifth tonight.

The trade leaves the Browns in an interesting position. With the likely outcome of Deshaun Watson being suspended for at least the 2022-2023 season, Cleveland will be left with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. Brissett has always been a viable back-up in the NFL. So, all is not lost.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have have a battle between Heisman rivals, Mayfield and Sam Darnold, at quarterback.
