The Cleveland Browns were able to land one of the top quarterbacks in the game today when they successfully traded for Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans. However, there's also no denying that the three-time Pro-Bowler happens to be one of the most controversial figures in the NFL right now.

Watson is currently in the midst of an ugly legal battle over allegations of sexual misconduct. Right now, there are 22 women accusing Watson of inappropriate sexual behavior towards them and have decided to bring their fight to court.

In this light, more than a few folks out there have raised their concerns over this move by the Browns. At the moment, Watson's reputation has become questionable, and for some, this takes precedence over how good of a quarterback he actually is. This is exactly the case for the wife of Cleveland Indians legend Jim Thome, who recently announced on Twitter that they will be boycotting the Browns this season:

“Officially cancelled our Browns season tickets today and asked for a refund as they were paid in full. Very sad after 40 years as a fan, but this is my line in the sand. I believe women. Especially when there are 22 of them. That press conference did nothing to change my mind,” Andrea wrote in her tweet.

Andrea never mentioned Watson in her tweet but it is clear who she's talking about here. Needless to say, she's clearly unhappy with the Browns' decision to bring the controversial QB to Cleveland. She's taking a stand here and has decided to make her decision public.

Andrea then went on to say that while she doesn't expect to get her money back, she is still choosing to stand by her principles:

“They may not give us a refund. But I sent the letter today. If @Browns won’t refund—-I will auction off every single game and publicly donate every cent to different women’s crisis charities in N.E. Ohio, raising awareness week by week during the season,” she wrote.

Unsurprisingly, Andrea got a lot of flack for her polarizing announcement on the mean streets of Twitter. She had to clear things up by saying that she never said Watson was guilty of the crimes he is being alleged of. However, she clearly feels that he isn't innocent either:

“A final word. I never called anyone guilty. 22 accusers. That’s enough for me to make a decision that I have every right to make without being incessantly bullied by keyboard warriors. I’m stepping away for a week, but I wish you all peace. Grateful for all of the support. ♥✌,” Andrea wrote.

Andrea even had to go on a social media hiatus after all the hate she received over her decision. This is a highly controversial subject and it isn't at all surprising that people are taking opposing stands here. However, bullying is still bullying regardless if it's done in person or on social media. Andrea was just victimized by people she's labeling as “keyboard warriors” who aren't exactly on the same boat as hers.

As for the Browns, it was a big decision to bring in Watson amid this ongoing scandal. It doesn't seem like the 26-year-old is going to serve any jail time for his alleged crimes, so it looks like he's going to be able to take the field for Cleveland this coming season (barring any potential suspensions, of course). In the end, we will all be able to determine if Deshaun Watson will be worth all this trouble.
