The Cleveland Browns are finally discovering their true identity as a team and attained a winning record for the first time in six years after their Week 2 win against the Washington Football Team. They continued the surge as they added another tally to their win column with a 49-38 win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3.

Pro Football Hall of Famer and former NFL tight end Tony Gonzalez recently proclaimed his optimistism for the squad heading into their campaign in 2020.

“Hats off to the Cleveland Browns,” he proclaimed. “We said it before the season. They have a lot of talent out there in Cleveland. If they can put it together, they can win some games.”

The 14-time Pro Bowler also pointed out that the Browns have to take advantage of their running game for them to continue their success this season.

“They’ve identified themselves,” Gonzalez said. “They know what they can hang their hat on. It’s not Baker Mayfield. It’s that running game right now. Even though, Nick Chubb goes out…You have a guy in Kareem Hunt.”

“Turn around hand that ball off and when you gotta make those throws, go ahead and make them,” Gonzalez continued. “Don’t turn the ball over…Keep it at that, play good defense and they’ve got a formula to be a really good football team this year.”

The Browns' RB1 in Chubb suffered an MCL injury in their win against the Cowboys but the also-injured Hunt managed to step up in lieu of his running mate's absence. Chubb had six carries for 43 yards and played 14 snaps prior to the injury. The Ohio native in Hunt ran 71 yards on 11 carries and scored two rushing touchdowns despite nursing a groin injury.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski also dug deep in his roster and put third-year ball-carriers D'Ernest Johnson and Dontrell Hilliard into action against the Cowboys.

With Chubb being named to the team's injured reserve list, the Dawg Pound will expect to see a greater contribution from Hunt in their coming games. Hopefully, the entire Browns squad will be able to sustain their fine form and finally live up to the high expectations set around them.
