Another year, another season that has passed former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel by. Despite his optimism about a return to the NFL, Manziel still finds himself out of work and away from the game.
However, that could all be changing soon. He recently posted on Twitter that he plans on getting back to playing this year:
“I’ll keep grinding and let [agent Erik Burkhardt] work this thing out,” Manziel said. “I have all the faith in the world in him during this process. One way or another I am getting back on a football field this year. Believe that.”
The former Heisman Trophy winner has been out of the league for two years now. If he has any hope of getting back, he will first need to show he can still play.

There have been a few players looking to use the CFL as a stepping stone back into the NFL. The most recent has been former Browns and Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson. The former third overall pick played in four games this year, rushing 48 times for 259 yards and two touchdowns before being sidelined with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how well Manziel can get adjusted after a two-year hiatus from the game. Prior to his departure, he threw for 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns, and seven interceptions while going 2-6 as the starter in Cleveland. In all fairness, things have not gotten much better for the Browns since he left.
