Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott knows this is a big year, not just for the team but also individually. The team can offer Prescott a long-term deal after this season, so this is the year the Cowboys will decide if he is the long-term option.

Prescott was asked about a new contract, and he told reporters he knows he needs to have a bounce-back year.

“It’s kind of known,” Prescott said, per Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk. “It’s not anything I got to stick in my head [that] I’ve got to do this; I’ve got to do that to get that. I play my game. I do what I am asked to do. All that stuff will come. It’s not anything I worry about.”

Prescott is happy seeing other quarterbacks get big deals because that helps him when he goes to negotiate his next contract.

“Pay ’em. They deserve it,” Prescott said. “Pay all those guys that definitely deserve it that are up for contracts. It only helps the rest of us.”

When the Cowboys decided to move on from Tony Romo in favor of Prescott, it added extra pressure and there were some questions from fans. There is now even more pressure on Prescott to perform well this season with a new contract looming. The young quarterback will try to silence the critics with a big year and hopefully help lead the Cowboys back into the playoffs.
