Back in April, the Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant. The move ended up being troublesome for America's Team as they struggled to replace the one-time All-Pro. It wasn't until the Cowboys acquired Amari Cooper in a trade with the Oakland Raiders recently that they were able to find a viable option downfield.
A few weeks after the trade was made, the Cowboys appear to be content with the addition of Cooper with the team winning two of the last three games. Star running back Ezekiel Elliott believes that bringing in the Alabama product has been huge as the 24-year-old has been the missing piece for Dallas, via Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram.

With Cooper fitting in nicely, the Cowboys are very much in the playoff hunt in the NFC. Cooper and company are currently in a second place in the NFC East division behind the Washington Redskins (6-4) with a 5-5 record. The devastating season-ending injury to Alex Smith changing the dynamic of the division as the Redskins are expected to drop off while the division could be there for the taking for Dallas.
However, the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are still in the mix at 4-6 while the New York Giants can't entirely be counted out at 3-7. It'll be interesting to see if the can make a run in the final stretch of the season to clinch the division title and as a result, a playoff spot as well.
