Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones suffered a knee injury during his team's game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon and will miss the remainder of the game, according to the team.
Jones had totaled eight yards on four carries before exiting.
On the year, Jones has rushed for 728 yards off 133 attempts, scoring eight touchdowns. He has also hauled in 26 receptions for 209 yards and a score.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at UTEP, was originally selected by the Packers in the fifth round (182nd pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He played in 12 games during his rookie campaign, finishing with 448 yards while reaching the end zone four times, recording 5.5 yards per carry.
Green Bay is in the midst of a very disappointing season, entering Sunday's action against the Bears with a record of 5-7-1 and on the outside looking in of the NFC playoff picture.
Article Continues BelowThe Packers have also had some dissension in the locker room throughout the year, leading to the firing of long-time head coach Mike McCarthy, who was apparently clashing with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Should Green Bay miss the postseason this year, it would mark the first time the Packers have failed to qualify for the playoffs in back-to-back years since 2006. Remember: Green Bay missed the postseason last season largely due to Rodgers missing most of the year due to a broken collarbone.
Up until 2017, the Packers had a streak of eight straight playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl victory during the 2010-11 campaign.
After their bout with the Bears this weekend, the Pack will take on the New York Jets next Sunday before finishing their regular season by hosting the Detroit Lions on Dec. 30.
