Looking to make their third straight Super Bowl appearance and win their second title in three seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to re-tool their roster and come back even stronger heading into the 2021-22 NFL season. After heavily struggling during their Super Bowl matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Chiefs definitely have some work to do if they want to return to the Super Bowl next season and come out the other side of it victorious.

With the preseason coming to an end soon and the regular season less than two weeks away, the Chiefs have some major decisions they need to make. Having said all that, let's take a look at two Chiefs first-stringers who are in danger of losing their starting jobs ahead of the 2021 NFL season.

Austin Blythe

Currently listed as questionable for their week one matchup against the Browns, Austin Blythe is likely to lose his starting spot to Creed Humphrey heading into the first week of the season. Given how much promise Humphrey has already shown, he will most assuredly make for a stellar replacement in the Chiefs first regular season game of 2021.

Considering how badly the Chiefs' offensive line was exposed during Super Bowl 55, it goes without saying that franchise superstar Patrick Mahomes is going to need top-notch protection all season long. With Humphrey, the Chiefs would be getting exactly that and allow Mahomes to last much longer in the pocket. With the uncertainty of Blythe's injury and Humphrey showing a ton of promise, it seems that Austin Blythe is in danger of losing his starting job to Creed Humphrey prior to the start of the 2021 NFL season.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Another key rotation player on the Chiefs' offense who is listed as questionable prior to week one, Clyde Edwards-Helaire may wind up losing his starting spot prior to the start of the 2021 NFL season. With back-up Darrel Williams also being listed as questionable for their first game against the Browns, it seems that third-stringer Jerick McKinnon may wind up winning the starting running back spot to start off the season.

This may not be a permanent move, but it's a necessary one that'll give the Chiefs some depth and insurance in their backfield and add to their already explosive up-tempo offense. Looking to bounce back huge after coming off a few injury-riddled seasons with the 49ers, McKinnon will look to make an instant impact on the Chiefs next season. Having said all this, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is in danger of losing his starting job ahead of the 2021 NFL season.

The Chiefs have done a lot of work this offseason to improve their offensive line and add to their receiving corps and backfield to get all the help they can for Patrick Mahomes. Now that Mahomes has had an entire offseason to rest and recover, he'll undoubtedly be back at full strength during the 2021-22 NFL season. With all the new additions the Chiefs have made, they're now re-tooled and ready to the league by storm again in the hopes bringing another Super Bowl title back to Kansas City in 2022.
