The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a heartbreaking loss on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers and coach Andy Reid knows how important it is that the team learns from the mistakes made during the game.

With five minutes left to go in the game, the Chiefs were up 14 points and it looks like they were about to cruise to another relatively easy victory. Philip Rivers and the Chargers had different ideas scoring two touchdowns and a two-point conversion in the final four minutes and now the race for the number one seed is wide open again.

The Chiefs still control their own destiny and if they can take what they learned from this game with them, they should still be able to lock up home field.

“As long as we learn from it, that's the important thing right now,” coach Andy Reid said via Adam Teicher of ESPN. “You don't take anything for granted at home or anywhere else. You have to bear down. … The best thing we can do is learn from it and make ourselves a better football team.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes echoed the same message as his coach, talking about the team has to be better prepared for the Seattle Seahawks in their next game.

“It sucks now but we're going to recuperate, come back and try to win these last two games,” Mahomes said. “There's not much you have to say. Everybody feels that feeling. They want to get back out there tomorrow. We'll have a long 10 days. We're going to Seattle. It's a tough place to play. They're playing really good football right now.”

The loss hurts now, but this type of loss is one that actually can help a team come playoff time.
