There has been plenty of speculation regarding whether or not quarterback Patrick Mahomes would be able to return for their Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Despite the optimism surrounding his recovery, it appears head coach Andy Reid has no intention of rushing the process.

Reid says they will not have him play until they are certain he is ready, via Ed Werder of ESPN:

Reid's comments are certainly understandable considering just how important Mahomes is to this franchise. Although the Chiefs are hardly as formidable without him, the last thing they need is to further aggravate the injury by rushing him back before he is physically ready.

Fortunately, Kansas City may have the luxury of taking their time with his recovery. Backup quarterback Matt Moore has done a solid job in his place with strong back-to-back outings against two formidable opponents. He had no problem taking full advantage of the plethora of weapons at his disposal in the win over the Minnesota Vikings and will look to keep it going on the road in Tennessee.

As a result, the Chiefs could opt to sit Mahomes for another week in order to ensure his status for their primetime AFC West showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11. If Moore can help buy some more time with another win this week, it will pay huge dividends for their current lead in the division.
