It's always interesting to see sports teams featuring in anything other than sporting broadcasts. Kansas City Chiefs fans who also follow the HBO Series Ballers will have a lot of fun watching the series' final season.
According to ChiefsWire's Ed Easton Jr., the team will be featuring a lot in the sports drama. Spencer Strasmore, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will buy the team from the Hunt family during Season 5.
The Rock shared with the media how excited he is to share with the audience the fictional storylines that are based on real-life issues individuals and groups in the sports industry face.
“It was an opportunity to not only embrace culture, not only embrace ambition, not only embrace success — which we do in the show — but also embrace the failures, which is a key and critical thing in life, to learn from them,” Johnson said. “I was embracing a game that has been so very good to me personally, and even though things didn’t work out for me and my NFL dreams, and those that I failed at, it was still an opportunity to play a character that loved the game.”
The show has featured other football teams during its run as well. The Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins, and Los Angeles Rams have all taken their turn in front of the camera.
This is a great opportunity for the Chiefs and the Hunt family. Not only is the show providing them with free national exposure, but it also ties one of the biggest movie stars with their franchise. This is a great win for the team's marketing department.
Fans will be eager to see how the franchise will be depicted in this fictional universe.
