Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Chris Jones is in the midst of a breakout 2018 campaign where he has put up career-best numbers across the board.
One of his biggest areas of improvement has been his ability to get to the quarterback as he has set the NFL record with at least one sack in each of the last nine straight games played, according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com.
Kansas City's Chris Jones became first player to record a sack in at least nine straight games in a single season since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

In his third year, Jones has taken another leap forward in his development as he, Dee Ford, and Justin Houston have proven to be the primary factors off the edge for the Chiefs' defensive line that is currently second in the league with 42 sacks. He is also eighth in the league in sacks while being the team leader in that regard.

The high level of production that Jones has continued to provide has made him a key piece defensively that could play a pivotal role in helping his team push toward a deep playoff run with Super Bowl aspirations.
Beyond that, this is an opportunity for him for him to push forward to be in play for a lucrative extension next offseason, as he will be in play to receive a major deal from the team as he's currently in the third year of his four-year, $6.2 million rookie deal. He has more than outplayed his current pay scale over the last two years that should see him garner a long-term contract to keep him in Kansas City for the long haul.
In the meantime, Jones has three more games in the regular season to add to his career-best campaign while continuing to be a key factor on the Chiefs' defensive line.
