The 2019 NFL Draft ended a few days ago but that doesn't mean teams are done bringing in rookies to their organization. The Kansas City Chiefs most notably signed undrafted wide receiver Jamal Custis.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Chiefs gave Custis over $100,000 in guaranteed money. The $100,000 is believed to be the largest guarantee to any undrafted wide receiver in the last two seasons.

The Chiefs have been looking to add depth to their wide receiver position and they did just that. During the NFL Draft, Kansas City used their second-round pick on Mecole Hardman (wide receiver out of Georgia).

With the Tyreek Hill saga continuing to unfold, the Chiefs may need to find his replacement. Therefore, drafting a speedster like Hardman makes a ton of sense as he has a similar skillset as Hill.

After Hill and Sammy Watkins, the Chiefs receiving group is pretty thin. And with Watkins having injuries more often than not, wide receiver was a position that needed to be addressed.

Custis comes from Syracuse where he didn't really get to showcase his potential until the 2018 season. The young wideout had 51 receptions for 906 yards and six touchdowns.

His previous three seasons in college, he only managed to get 13 catches, 142 yards, and two touchdowns combined. At least he made the most of the opportunity he received in his senior season at Syracuse.

The Chiefs obviously love what they see in Custis. Enough so, that they felt comfortable enough to give him the highest guaranteed deal to any undrafted wide receiver over the past two years.
