Tyreek Hill has not played since the first quarter of Week 1 due to a clavicle injury, but the Kansas City Chiefs are holding out hope that the wide receiver will return against the Houston Texans this Sunday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, there is “optimism” that Hill will be cleared to play in the Chiefs' Week 6 tilt, but, of course, it is not a sure thing just yet:

“Similar to the Sam Darnold situation, feelings are one thing, but tests and scans are another thing,” Rapoport said. “They are going to scan the bone, make sure that it has healed properly, make sure it's safe for him to be out there.”

Hill will be scanned on Friday, and if all goes well, he should be okay to suit up against the Texans.

Kansas City could certainly use Hill back in the lineup, especially after posting just 13 points in a six-point home loss to the Indianapolis Colts last weekend. It marked the Chiefs' lowest scoring output since November 2017.

Hill, who played his collegiate football at West Alabama, was originally selected by Kansas City in the fifth round (165th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, including a couple of First-Team All-Pro selections.

The 25-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he played all 16 games and hauled in 87 receptions for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 22 times for 151 yards and a score.

The Chiefs dropped to 4-1 with their loss last Sunday.
