Legendary NFL kicker Morten Andersen admires Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

In an interview with Fox News, Andersen said Mahomes is a “leader” and “having a blast.”

“You can see him on the sideline. They were down 10-0 against the [Buffalo] Bills, he was on the sideline saying, ‘We’re alright, we’re alright.’ And guys were hanging their heads, and he was walking up and down the sideline cheerleading. He’s an optimist. And if there’s ever a time to be an optimist, it’s now during this time.

For Andersen, the young signal-caller is an inspiration. Mahomes can play so freely and loosely. Andersen was amazed at how some of the Chiefs star's throws looked like they were in between being improvised and practiced. At the very least, these types of throws were rehearsed mentally. Andersen commended Mahomes for being more than just “a gifted athlete.”

“He’s an inspiration to watch,” Andersen continued. “It’s like he’s back on the playground playing ball without a worry, without a care. … I think some of the throws he’s making, he’s practiced. And if he hasn’t done it physically, he’s certainly done it mentally. He’s done it in his mind. Besides just being a gifted athlete, with a great arm, and elusiveness and speed. He has true leadership capabilities.”

According to Andersen, Mahomes has a lot of instinct and intuition. He can make a play out of nothing, but at the same time, he has the patience to wait for a play to develop.

When you have targets like Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce and a brilliant head coach in Andy Reid, those “stagnant” plays tend to develop.

Mahomes will lead the Chiefs once again to Super Bowl LV. Their opponents this time are the home team Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the talent of both teams and the various storylines, this matchup should be one of the more memorable ones.
