Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to getting his team off to quick starts in the season. The Chiefs have taken over as top dog in the AFC with back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, having won one of them. This is due in large part to their ability to hit the ground running at the start of the regular season. The same can be side for the Kansas City Royals this year, who currently sit atop the American League Central standings early on in the year. Mahomes has taken notice.
In an article posted by Ed Easton Jr. to USA Today's “Chiefswire,” he notes Mahomes' enthusiasm towards the Royals quick start.
“I mean, I think we have the best record in AL right now,” said Mahomes.”I know it’s by a couple of percentage points, but to see them starting so hot and really getting contributions from everybody on the team gives me optimism of having a great run. It’s carried over since spring training and will hopefully carry through the rest of the season.” – Mahomes.
The Chiefs superstar quarterback became a part-owner of the Royals last year after he signed his massive deal with Kansas City. The sport itself is one that Mahomes is very familiar with, as his dad was a Major League pitcher when Mahomes was just growing up.
The energy and enthusiasm surrounding the Royals early on is slowly gaining traction in a city that is now used to seeing their Chiefs win. Now, they'd like to see their Royals get back to some of its successful ways from just a few seasons ago.
