Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has not purchased anything yet since signing his new contract extension worth $503 million.
“I haven’t bought anything,” the Chiefs QB told CBS Sports. “My dad texted me a couple days after the contract: ‘Do you feel any different.’ I said I feel exactly the same. I’m going to be the same person I was before I got the contract and before I got to the NFL — to be the best Patrick Mahomes I can be every single day.”
Mahomes purchased a $1.925 million home this offseason; however, that was before he signed a contract extension with the Chiefs.
“I got a house, but that was before the contract happened,” Mahomes added. “That was more of a ‘you're quarantined, you need somewhere to work out at home' so I got a house and a workout room and stuff like that back in Texas. So I guess you can count that, but I haven't bought anything.”
The Texas native made NFL history after signing his lucrative deal with the Chiefs. Not only is it the richest contract in the NFL, but it's the richest contract in the history of North American sports.
Nevertheless, there's no denying Mahomes deserved that contract extension. This past season, Mahomes became the first player in NFL history to win an MVP award, Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP award in their first two seasons as a starting quarterback. What's even more impressive about Mahomes is that he's only 24 years old, so this is just the beginning for him.
